Before your trial it’s really important to consider what makes you…you! If you always wear your hair down for a special occasion because that’s how you feel most confident; it’s probably a good idea to consider a down style for your wedding day. If your Husband-to-be loves you with your hair up, perhaps it’s worth you trying something you know he’ll love? If your day-to-day makeup is very clean and natural and you don’t normally wear eyeshadow…then why try to channel Kim Kardashian on your wedding day if that’s not you?!
Always have some images ready of the look you would like to achieve. Remember that your idea of natural makeup or tousled curls may be completely different to that of mine or another brides! Try using https://uk.pinterest.com/
If you’re not sure what type of style you would like, maybe choose 2 styles e.g. hair down and an up style and we can try both. Try both and then we can work out the elements you like/dislike from each and create you something new or in-between!
If you are unsure of your hairstyle or what accessories to get, I usually recommend buying some lower priced options to test out at the trial before committing to buying the actual accessory but I do however have a selection of combs, flowers and veils that we can improvise with to try give us the best idea possible!
Try wear something you feel good in or something white. If you have a strapless dress, try wearing something without straps or a vest top you can pull the straps down on. Some of my brides to to organise a dress fitting after a trial but it’s not always possible so wearing a white top may give us the best idea possible!
A trial normally takes around 3-3.5 hours for both hair and makeup and honesty really is the best policy when it comes to trials so please don’t worry about causing offence! If you don’t like it, please say. Say it now whilst I’m still there with kit out and brushes to hand! The trial is there for exactly this reason. As a hair and makeup artist, it is my job to make you feel good and ensure that you look your very best. If you’re not sure about something, we can change it; it’s really not a problem. This is why the trials are scheduled to take longer, than the actual day
Hope this helps!
